# Pingen Alternative: Print and Mail Company vs. Pingen

Print and Mail Company and Pingen both turn PDFs into posted letters, but they suit different senders. Pingen, a Zurich-based company active since 2010, is a hybrid-mail platform for businesses of all sizes, built around automation, integrations, volume pricing and local printing in 10 countries. Print and Mail Company focuses on individual letters: it prints the address directly on the envelope, posts from Luxembourg via POST Luxembourg, and lets AI assistants write and send letters through an official MCP connector.

## Where Pingen is strong

Pingen is a well-established choice for business mail, especially at volume. It says it serves more than 17,000 customers, and it offers:

- **Integrations:** email-to-letter, S3, SFTP, OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive and Zapier, plus a mail merge letter generator.
- **Developer tooling:** a REST API with OAuth 2.0, a free sandbox environment, webhooks and SDKs for PHP, Python, Go, JavaScript, Java, .NET and Rust. Pingen does not charge for API use itself.
- **Volume pricing:** a lower processing fee above 500 letters a month and custom rates from 5,000 letters a month.
- **Local printing:** print and mailing operations in 10 countries, with next-business-day products listed for some of them, for example A Mail in Switzerland and Standardbrief in Germany.
- **More postal products:** registered mail with a return-receipt option in France and Belgium, and digital processing of returned mail.
- **Security:** servers in Switzerland at ISO 27001-certified Cloudscale and ISO 27001-certified print facilities.

## Where Print and Mail Company fits better

- **No address window rules.** We print the recipient address directly on the envelope, so any A4 layout works as long as 9 mm stays free on every side. There is no address area, postage area or extra cover page to think about.
- **Letters written and sent by AI assistants.** Our official remote MCP server lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients compose a correctly formatted letter, create a priced draft and send it only after you confirm. See [AI assistants](/ai-assistants).
- **Individual letters with VAT-inclusive prices.** You see the exact price including 17% Luxembourg VAT before you pay, and you get a VAT invoice for every letter.
- **Registered letters from Luxembourg**, also to international destinations, with a POST Luxembourg tracking number and signature on delivery.
- **Refundable credit.** Unused credit is refunded to the original payment method on request (processing fees and card surcharges already charged are excluded).
- **EU hosting** with uploaded files deleted automatically 30 days after posting.

## Which one should you choose?

**Pingen is likely the better fit if you:**

- send hundreds or thousands of letters a month and want volume pricing;
- need ready-made integrations (Zapier, cloud storage, SFTP, email-to-letter) or mail merge;
- want local printing in one of its 10 print countries, including next-business-day products in Switzerland and Germany.

**Print and Mail Company is likely the better fit if you:**

- send individual letters, such as cancellations, letters to authorities or invoices, and do not want to adapt your layout to an address window;
- want an AI assistant to write and send letters for you, with your approval before anything is paid;
- need registered letters to international destinations, or want prices shown including VAT.

Neither service charges a subscription or setup fee, so the simplest test is to compare the price of your own letter on our [pricing page](/pricing) and on Pingen's website.

## Switching from Pingen

Letters you already send through Pingen can be reused:

1. Export the letter as an A4 PDF. Templates with the address in a window position are fine; the address block simply stays part of the letter.
2. Upload it on the [send page](/send). Pingen's layout rules use a 5 mm edge margin; if your content comes closer to the edge than our 9 mm margin, "shrink to fit margins" scales it with one click.
3. Enter the recipient address, which we print on the envelope, and choose your options.
4. Check the exact price including VAT and send.

For automated sending, use our REST API (OpenAPI spec at `/openapi.json`) or our MCP server; see [AI assistants](/ai-assistants).

## FAQ

### Is Print and Mail Company affiliated with Pingen?

No. Print and Mail Company is operated by LeFaLux vGmbH in Luxembourg and is independent of Pingen GmbH. We are also not affiliated with POST Luxembourg; we are their customer.

### Do I have to place the address in an envelope window with Print and Mail Company?

No. We print the recipient address directly on the envelope, so your letter can use any A4 layout with 9 mm free on every side. With Pingen, letters go in left- or right-window envelopes, and the address must sit in a defined address area on the first page or be added on a cover page.

### Does Pingen have an MCP connector for AI assistants?

Pingen's website does not mention an official MCP connector (checked on 2026-10-06). An independent open-source project, pingen-mcp, connects MCP clients to the Pingen API and runs locally with your own Pingen API credentials. Print and Mail Company runs an official remote MCP server at `https://printandmailcompany.com/mcp` with OAuth sign-in.

### Which is cheaper, Pingen or Print and Mail Company?

It depends on volume, destination and options. Pingen's prices exclude VAT and fall with volume (tiers at 500 and 5,000 letters a month); our prices are shown including 17% Luxembourg VAT. Compare the exact price of your letter on our [pricing page](/pricing) and on Pingen's pricing page.

### Can I send registered letters with both services?

Yes, with differences. Pingen lists registered products for Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium and Spain, some with a return receipt. Print and Mail Company sends POST Luxembourg registered letters, also internationally, with a tracking number and signature on delivery, but without a return receipt for now.
