# Send a Registered Cancellation Letter Online with Tracking

Print and Mail Company sends your cancellation letter as a POST Luxembourg registered letter: you upload a PDF or let an AI assistant write it, and we print, envelope and post it for you. You get a tracking number, the recipient signs on delivery, and you need no printer, no stamps and no trip to the post office.

## How to send a cancellation letter by registered mail

1. **Prepare your letter as a PDF** (A4, portrait) with 9 mm free on every side. No PDF yet? Let an AI assistant write it (see below).
2. **Upload it** on the [send page](/send). We check page size and margins automatically and mark problems in red. One click on "shrink to fit margins" scales the pages to fit, or you upload a corrected file.
3. **Enter the recipient's address.** We print it directly on the envelope, so your letter does not need an address in a window position.
4. **Choose registered mail**, plus black & white or colour and single- or double-sided printing.
5. **Check the exact price including VAT** and pay by card or from your credit.
6. **Follow the status by email:** Paid → In production → Printed → Posted. The tracking number appears in your account and in your emails.

Changed your mind? You can cancel the letter in your account until production starts (status "Paid"), and the full amount goes back to your credit balance.

## What proof you get

Registered mail gives you a record that your cancellation was sent and delivered. With Print and Mail Company you receive:

- **A POST Luxembourg tracking number**, shown in your account and in your status emails, which you can follow on post.lu.
- **Delivery against signature:** the recipient signs for a registered letter on delivery.
- **Status emails for each step** (Paid, In production, Printed, Posted) and a VAT invoice for every letter.

Keep your own copy of the PDF you sent: we delete uploaded files automatically 30 days after the letter was posted. A return receipt (Empfangsbestätigung) is not offered yet.

## Deadlines: when to send your cancellation

Most contracts set a notice period and a date by which your cancellation must arrive. In many countries a cancellation takes effect when the other party receives it, not when you post it, so plan for production and delivery time.

- **Production:** letters paid by 12:00 Luxembourg time on a business day are usually printed and handed to POST Luxembourg the same business day; later orders the next business day.
- **Typical delivery after handover (not guaranteed):** Luxembourg 1–2 business days; Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands 2–4; the rest of Europe 3–6; the rest of the world 5–15.
- **Leave a buffer.** We cannot influence transit times or customs delays, so send several days before the deadline rather than on the last day.
- **Check the required form.** Your contract or terms say whether a cancellation must be in writing or sent by registered mail, or whether it can also be made online or by email.

## What to write in a cancellation letter

Keep it short, clear and factual. A good cancellation letter includes:

- your full name and address and, if you have them, your customer, contract or policy number;
- a subject line such as "Cancellation of membership no. 12345";
- one unambiguous sentence saying that you cancel the contract at the next possible date or on a specific date;
- a request for written confirmation of the cancellation and the end date;
- if you pay by direct debit, a sentence that the authorisation ends with the contract;
- the date and your signature (a scanned signature in the PDF is printed like the rest of the page).

Example:

> **Subject: Cancellation of membership no. 12345**
>
> Dear Sir or Madam,
>
> I hereby cancel my membership no. 12345 at the next possible date. Please confirm the cancellation and the end date of the contract in writing.
>
> Yours faithfully,
>
> Jane Doe

The recipient address is printed on the envelope, so you do not have to fit the letter to an address window. Your letter can still show the recipient's address at the top, as most formal letters do.

## Let an AI assistant write and send it

If you use Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another assistant that supports MCP, connect it to Print and Mail Company and ask, for example: "Write a cancellation letter to my gym and send it registered."

The assistant writes the text with our `compose_letter` tool, and we render it as a properly formatted A4 letter that always passes the margin check. The assistant then creates a draft with the exact price (nothing is charged) and sends it only after you explicitly confirm. Payment comes from your prepaid credit. See [AI assistants](/ai-assistants) for setup.

## FAQ

### How much does a registered cancellation letter cost?

The letter price (envelope, paper, printing and postage) plus €6.50 (excl. VAT) for registered mail, with 17% Luxembourg VAT on the total. You see the exact price before you pay, and there is no subscription. The full tariff is on the [pricing page](/pricing).

### Can I send a registered cancellation letter to a company in another country?

Yes. We print in Luxembourg and POST Luxembourg delivers worldwide, so you can cancel a contract with a company in Germany, France, the UK or elsewhere. Check your contract for the form of cancellation it requires.

### Do I get a return receipt signed by the recipient?

Not yet. Registered letters are delivered against the recipient's signature and come with a tracking number you can follow on post.lu, but a separate return receipt (Empfangsbestätigung) is not offered yet.

### How long does a registered cancellation letter take to arrive?

Letters paid by 12:00 Luxembourg time on a business day are usually handed to POST Luxembourg the same business day. Typical delivery after that is 1–2 business days within Luxembourg, 2–4 to Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands, 3–6 in the rest of Europe and 5–15 elsewhere. Transit times are not guaranteed, so send well before your deadline.

### What happens if a registered letter gets lost?

Once a letter is handed to POST Luxembourg, transit is the responsibility of the postal operators. For a lost registered letter we help you file the claim with POST Luxembourg, and compensation follows POST's terms. See our [terms](/legal/terms) and the [FAQ](/faq).
